Gospel of Mark | Power | Mark 9.1 | movementministriesblog.com

“And he said to them, “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.” Mark 9.1

What does it mean for the Kingdom of God to come in power? Is Jesus referring to the second coming of his return? Or is what Jesus speaking about actually happening at that very moment? I mean, when Jesus came to earth didn’t he brought the Kingdom of God? Or perhaps he is referring to the birth of the Church when the Holy Spirit is being poured out on all flesh.

To me this is less about the “when” and more about the “what.” Jesus power has come to the earth! When God sent Jesus as a human, God’s power came. When God grew him up as a man and brought him to grace the world, God’s power came. And when Jesus died and rose again and sent the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, the power of God came.

The truth is — God’s power is here. The Kingdom of God is among us. We have access to that power when we trust and believe in the name of Jesus. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the power of the Holy Spirit comes upon us and fills us our earthly temples with his Spirit. This is a great mystery of the church.

Have you received this power? Are you living as if the power has yet to come? Are your days dreary and drab? Do not allow the enemy to convince you that God’s power is absent. He is here and he is near. Draw near to the Lord and he will draw near to you. Call out to him today and you will receive this power and your life will never be the same again.

“O Lord God, you are good! Thank you for a new day with the sun out! I praise you Lord for your love and kindness. Come now, Holy Spirit, fill me with your truth. I praise you for Jesus and for the resurrection from the dead. For you are good and your love endures forever.” Amen
