“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6.37-38
This is how we should behave—not only as human beings, but especially as followers of Christ. We are called to be like Him: holy and set apart. That is why Jesus is continually shaping and molding our character to reflect Him rather than the world, so that we might bring glory to His name.
When I think of the positive role models I’ve had, they have been non-judgmental, forgiving, and generous with their time and resources. When we treat others this way, we are rewarded—not only in eternity, but also by being formed into people who truly represent Christ.
Jesus is not only saving our souls; He is also sanctifying us here and now. He is equipping and empowering us to live differently. The world has no need for more greedy, needy, or pride-filled people. What it desperately needs are those who are willing to suffer, sacrifice, and serve those around them.
This is not an easy calling, but it is one we are invited to pursue with all our hearts. So I encourage you: strive to love all people. Even when we disagree with their choices, behaviors, or actions, remember that Christ loved everyone and died for everyone—so that we might be transformed into His perfect likeness: a likeness marked by compassion, love, and deep concern for both this life and the life to come.
“O come now, Lord Jesus. Fill us with Your power and love. Help us see the truth in Your Word and live according to Your promises. You have been so faithful to us and to this world. Fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit. Help us stand in beauty and in truth. For You are good, and Your love endures forever.” Amen.
